‘REGARDLESS’
Overview
“Regardless” is a unique initiative aimed at empowering women writers of all ages, races, and backgrounds. This project will provide an opportunity for these writers to attend a workshop about writing for screen and stage, hosted by the renowned writer Lisa Holdsworth.
About the Host
Lisa Holdsworth is an accomplished writer with a rich portfolio. She began her career writing for “Fat Friends” and was part of the “Emmerdale” writing team for several years. Her work spans across numerous episodes of dramas including “New Tricks”, “Robin Hood”, “Midsomer Murders”, and “Waterloo Road”, as well as radio and stage work.
Lisa’s talent was recognised when she won the Writer of the Year award in the RTS Yorkshire Awards 2011 for her 90-minute opener for Series 4 of “Waterloo Road”. More recently, she has written episodes of “Call the Midwife”, “All Creatures Great and Small”, and “A Discovery of Witches”, where she was co-showrunner on Series 3.
She also created, executive produced, and wrote several episodes for Channel 4’s upcoming series, “Dance School”. Her stage adaptation of Adelle Stripes’ novel “Black Teeth and a Brilliant Smile” about the life of northern playwright Andrea Dunbar opened in 2019 and was included in the Observer critics’ review of the top 10 theatre shows of 2019.
In addition to her writing, Lisa is also developing several original TV pilot scripts and treatments, and spent 4 years as Chair of the WGGB.
Objectives
To provide a platform for women writers to learn and grow.
To foster a diverse and inclusive community of writers.
To inspire and motivate women writers through interaction with an industry expert.
Target Audience
Women writers regardless of age, race, and background who are interested in writing for screen and stage.
